Описание: From 4 through 6 November 2021, the 5th Hill Film Festival took place at the Khudro Nrigosthir Sangskritik Institute, the Cultural Institute in Rangamati. The festival focuses on films made in the different languages of the different indigenous communities, living in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. However, it includes films in every language to provide a truly inclusive structure.

The Hill Film Festival believes that through the filmic representation, those (𝘸𝘦) marginal communities will get a chance to represent themselves (𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴) the way they (𝘸𝘦) want, and they (𝘸𝘦) can ask and establish their (𝘰𝘶𝘳) identity against the dominant and hegemonic ideology of identity.

The Hill Film Festival has taken place four times since 2014. The theme of the 5th festival is ‘Cinema for Identity, Cinema for Language’.

“This year we received three films, particularly made for this festival. All of them were made by indigenous filmmakers from the Chittagong Hill Tracts. This is a major achievement of the festival. A few aspiring filmmakers said to me that they are motivated to initiate their own projects now, since they are feeling in good company - which is another objective met for us,” states festival director and filmmaker, Adit Dewan.

24 films were screened under seven categories. Short films and documentaries from the Bawm, Chakma, and Marma indigenous communities have been selected under the competition category, and under feature fiction a film from the Tripura community. Along with the local films, other filmmakers from across Bangladesh and other countries have been screened.

The 5th Hill Film Festival was organized by the Jum Film Forum in collaboration with Goethe-Institut Bangladesh, Khudro Nrigosthir Sangskritik Institute Rangamati, Drik Trust, Goopy Bagha Productions Limited, Hill Resource Centre, and Supporting People and Rebuilding Communities (SPaRC).

Goethe Pop Up during the fall of 2021. Goethe Pop Up is conceived as a vessel for hybrid, ambitious projects that speak across and between frameworks, both conceptual, as well as physical. It develops new ideas that resonate with local audiences as well as the Goethe-Institut's objectives to strengthen existing cultural relations and to foster new and meaningful ways of cross-national exchanges with the purpose of reflecting on and producing knowledge.
