25 октября 2025 года (дата по старому стилю – 12 октября) отмечается народный праздник в честь памяти трех святых мучеников – Прова, Тараха и Андроника.

В 304 году, во времена правления Диоклетиана и Максимиана, они были схвачены в г. Помпеополе. Их привели в город Тарс на суд к проконсулу Максиму. На все просьбы отречься от веры и принести жертву языческим идолам он получал отказ. На вопрос об имени каждый отвечал, что его имя – христианин, и оно ему дороже собственного, данного родителями при рождении.

Максим приказал подвергнуть их пыткам. Видя, что воля мужчин не ослабевает, он повелел бросить мучеников на съедение диким зверям. Животные не тронули их. Тогда проконсул велел заколоть и разрубить Андроника, Прова и Тараха на части. Закончив с казнью, он приказал смешать их тела с телами нечестивых, чтобы христиане не смогли унести их. В качестве охраны было поставлено 10 воинов.

Когда христиане захотели забрать тела, они взмолились Господу Богу о помощи, и тут на землю обрушился грохот и землетрясение. Воины разбежались, а над растерзанными останками святых загорелось три свечи. Мощи мучеников забрали и похоронили в пещере.

Традиции и обряды
В этот день запрещено ссориться, стирать, красить, выбивать матрасы и перины, пинать домашних животных, приобретать в церквях свечи для дома, громко смеяться, гадать на картах.

Женщины старались в данный праздник не рожать, так как согласно поверью, ребенок в жизни будет иметь много горя.

Если в этот день постучались в дверь, то нельзя спрашивать: «Кто там?», иначе в доме поселится беда, и все домочадцы будут мучиться. Традиционно на дверной калитке завязывалась ленточка и произносилась заветная молитва, которая оберегала людей от бед и мучений.

На Андрона Звездочета люди молились, чтобы звезда жизни человека не закатилась за гору. Считается, что эти небесные тела оказывают большое влияние на судьбы людей. С появлением новой звезды рождается человек, а с угасанием – умирает. Чем ярче его звезда, тем счастливее будет судьба. В старину люди боялись звездопада, так как он считался предвестником воин, эпидемий, гибели многих людей или всего государства.

When the Christians wanted to take the bodies, they prayed to the Lord God for help, and then a roar and an earthquake struck the earth. The soldiers scattered, and three candles lit over the torn remains of the saints. The relics of the martyrs were taken away and buried in a cave.

Traditions and rituals.
On this day, it is forbidden to quarrel, wash, paint, knock out mattresses and feather beds, kick pets, buy candles for the house in churches, laugh loudly, and guess on cards.

Women tried not to give birth on this holiday, because according to the belief, a child in life will have a lot of grief.

If there is a knock on the door that day, then you should not ask: "Who is there?", otherwise trouble will settle in the house, and all the household members will suffer. Traditionally, a ribbon was tied on the door gate and a cherished prayer was said, which protected people from troubles and torments.

On Andron the Astrologer, people prayed that the star of a person's life would not set over the mountain. It is believed that these celestial bodies have a great influence on the fate of people. With the appearance of a new star, a person is born, and with the extinction, he dies. The brighter his star, the happier his fate will be. In the old days, people were afraid of starfall, as it was considered a harbinger of wars, epidemics, the death of many people or the entire state.
