An explanation of what happens when we change the dimensions of a figure proportionally. We see what happens when we change one dimension for a parallelogram, or one dimension for a triangle. We then see the effects of changing dimensions proportionally for a rectangle, or a circle. We discuss the rules for changing dimensions proportionally, and what happens to the sides of a square when we triple the area. We see what happens to the circumference of a circle when the area is doubled. Finally, I show you the slow method vs fast method for solving a word problem that involves the area of a rectangular ad in a newspaper and finding the price of the ad if we double the size.
