Terms I will use for this series:

i-frames - certain moves makes you invincible while performing them. This just refers to the parts where I can't get hit.
UT - Ultimate technique - Holding Y allows you to charge a UT which gives you i-frames and a lot of damage. UT refers to the level 2 charge. A UT can be charged instantly with 2 yellow essence or 1 blue or 1 yellow.
ET - Essence technique - Level 1 version of the UT. Charges in less time, lower damage than a UT. Can be instantly charged with 1 yellow essence.
On-landing - a mechanic where you can perform some moves instantly just as you land on the ground. Most common usage is for UT/ET as it skips the beginning of the UT animation.
Yellow essence - used as currency in the game. Enemies killed with UTs generate more essence. Can also be used to instantly charge an ET with 1 and a UT with 2.
Blue essence - restores health. Can also instantly charge a UT with 1.
Red essence - restores one charge of ninpo. Can also instantly charge a UT with 1.
Ninpo - powerful magic attacks.
Wind run - A specific jump that auto targets the nearest enemy (or sometimes a piece of furniture depending on Ryu's mood)
Wind path - Pressing A while above any enemy to jump off their head. Has i-frames and leaves the enemy open to attacks.
