Описание: In 2017, a new open source Java Virtual Machine called Eclipse OpenJ9 appeared in the Java ecosystem as a drop-in replacement for the well known Hotspot JVM with promises to reduce memory footprint and start Java applications much faster. Fast forward to 2024 where OpenJ9, now built into the 100% open source and free Semeru Runtimes distribution, has a steadfast user base who love the constant stream of impressive features and performance improvements being released 6 times per year. Nevertheless, we’ve found that not everyone makes the choice to use OpenJ9. In this talk, OpenJ9 project lead and Chief Architect for Java at IBM, Mark Stoodley, will summarize some of OpenJ9’s great features and evaluate the reasons why OpenJ9 hasn't always been adopted by everyone. Throughout the talk, you'll learn about tips and techniques that could help you realize OpenJ9’s full potential (even if you haven't been impressed before!), and you'll get an early glimpse at some of the new features and improvements coming soon to make Eclipse OpenJ9 and Semeru Runtimes an even better choice for your Java workloads!
