The OAS Permanent Council approved by consensus a resolution on the situation in Venezuela
The resolution urges the National Electoral Council of Venezuela to publish tally sheets and carry out an impartial verification of the results of the July 28 presidential elections

The document approved also resolves to:
• Acknowledge the substantial and peaceful participation of the electorate
• Insist that respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms be a priority and obligation for Venezuela
• Call on actors to abstain from conduct that might jeopardize the peaceful settlement of the crisis
• Request that Venezuelan authorities protect diplomatic facilities and personnel
• Underscore the importance of protecting and preserving equipment used in the electoral process
• Express solidarity with the Venezuelan people
