Google Finds "PROMPTFLUX" AI Malware

The main variant, named PROMPTFLUX, uses generative AI models like Google's Gemini API to dynamically rewrite its own source code. This "polymorphic" or "metamorphic" ability allows it to change its signature, sometimes hourly, making it incredibly difficult for traditional antivirus and security software to detect.

This marks a "significant step" towards more autonomous and adaptive cyber threats. Other variants, like PROMPTSTEAL, have already been used by state-sponsored actors (APT28) in active campaigns.
