By the Eastern Continental Divide, on the Blue Wall escarpement running through northern Polk County, North Carolina near Lake Lure, is the "World's Edge" - a view point and gathering spot for generations, 1,500 feet above the valley floor.
Steve Marlowe's ancesters lived on these slopes and bottoms - he and his cousins roamed all over these hills.
As we walk the rugged cliffs and enjoy the beautiful scenery, Steve recalls some history, lore and legend.
Looking north towards Lake Lure and Chimney Rock,we then walk on the old wagon road route from Polk Co.(at old Bailytown) up to Edneyville and Hendersonville.
