A BUFFALO HORN SCRAPING MY SKIN by a THAI MASSAGE MASTER for an hour was so PAINFUL! I am very thankful to have the opportunity to try this.

I have often asked locals around Asia why they have deep bruises and discoloring on their skin. They would tell me about gua sha, by using a motion of scraping the skin. Some people had the bruises all over their bodies. It looked really odd sometimes. I have always wanted to try it, so I can know how it feels.

I asked to try "gua sha" treatment, the ancient art of skin scraping. Gua sha is sometimes referred to as scraping, spooning, coining, or tribo-efflerage in French, and kerokan in Indonesian.

Gua sha is a natural, alternative therapy that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool to improve your circulation. This ancient Chinese healing technique may offer a unique approach to better health, addressing issues like chronic pain.

Because it involves rubbing or scraping skin with a massage tool, tiny blood vessels known as capillaries near the surface of your skin can burst. This can result in skin bruising and minor bleeding. 

Traveling Bangkok Thailand is incredibly fun, going local is even more fun.
