In this video we discuss all of the ways that we harvest rainwater in the urban environment. Our urban homestead has urban swale trails as well as above and below grade rainwater storage. We collect this water to feed micro-livestock, water gardens and food forests.

In most present-day design water is one of the last elements to be considered which is why human infrastructure is so energy intense and subject to flood and drought. When we make water central to the design of human systems we dramatically reduce the energy intensity of the system and provide the sustainable foundation for biological systems to flourish.
