THE RECIPES :
Averna is still produced using the original recipe given to Salvatore Averna by Frà Girolamo, a Benedictine monk from the Abbey of the Holy Spirit in Caltanissetta.
The secret recipe has been passed down since 1868.

Italian Digestivi are alcoholic beverages served after a meal.
The Greeks and Romans were the first to attempt to aid digestion using aromatic herbs and seeds steeped in liquids. Historically they typically contain herbs and spices that are believed to have stomach-settling properties facilitating digestion.
