The Storm at Sea Die was one I have admired, but not one I had planned to purchase. Since there was a BOGO sale and this was the same price as Cleopatra's Fan, I pulled the plug and added it to my cart. I think it will be a lot of fun to create with. I like that this one is all straight piecing. The curve look is just an optical illusion!

I have really, really wanted the Cleopatra's Fan die board since I saw some use it to make an absolutely gorgeous quilt. I am trying to challenge myself this year when it comes to my quilting, so why not try a quilt with curves. I have had one mini class on curves at the SWOK Quilting Group (if you're interested in our free, casual, fun, and friendly quilting group in Southwest OK, send me a DM and I'll send you the details), and I knew I wanted to try out more curves. To make it easier on myself I thought I would let AccuQuilt do the perfect cutting and help me with the piecing. AccuQuilt curved patterns come with notches cut into the shapes. That way you can line up the notches for easier piecing. I think it will be so much easier for a new curve piecer like me. I will start with one block, progress to a wall hanging, and then hopefully (long term goal) make a king size quilt for my bed.

For the Storm at Sea die, I will be using it with the Northwoods Medley die (video coming soon), to make a wall hanging quilt for my daughter's room of an outdoor scene. I hope of embellish with rhinestones to make it more fun for my almost 3 year old.
