Parachinar serves as the administrative hub of Kurram Valley, situated in the northwest and bordered by Afghanistan on three sides. The lofty mountain ranges of Koh-e-Safed act as a natural boundary between Afghanistan and Pakistan, often covered with snow annually. The name "Parachinar" originates from "Para" (Paarha), representing one of the tribes in the valley, and "Chinar," denoting the plentiful chinar trees found in this area. The town was previously known as "Tutki," and its residents were referred to as Tutkiwal.

Kurram is a district situated in the Kohat Division of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. Formerly an agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), it transitioned into a district following the merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in 2018. The predominant populace comprises Pashtuns, adhering primarily to Islam. Nevertheless, a minority populace of Hindus, Christians, and Sikhs also resides in District Kurram.

Various significant tribes inhabit the area, including the Bangash, Turi, Orakzai, Mamozai, Muqbil, Zazai, Paracha, Mangal, Ghilzai, Para Chamkani, Hazara, and Khoshi tribe, which is a Persian-speaking community.

Climate:

In valley, the summers are pleasant; the winters are freezing. Parachinar is ranked the forth coldest location is Pakistan.

Tourism Potential:

Parachinar is the less explored part of Pakistan where the majestic Koh-i-Safid slopes down to lush green plains, in the midst of which the Kurram River and other tributaries make their way. The land plagued with the scourge of sectarian violence in the past possesses great tourism potential; the need for tapping it is all the more pronounced.

While most of us look towards the summer, planning trips to places like Murree, Nathia Gali, Naran, Kaghan, Swat and Kalam that get overcrowded, why don't we take the chance to explore less travelled heavens like Parachinar and Ziarat as well.

Parachinar - "The land of unimaginable beauty with untapped tourism potential" is packed with loads of stunning sites (Chapri Bangla, Koh-e-Safaid base camp, Bag-e-Laila, Muhammadi Top, Kot Ragha Dam, Peiwar Kotal Pass (Gwai Pass), Maikay and Shalozan need to be seen to be believed.

However, due to paucity of time i was able to capture only 6 of these and the most enchanting Chapri Bangla and Laila Bagh were missed.
