Stefan from St.Ives in Cornwall comes to re-Discover Thurso at Thurso Community Cafe which he last visted as a surfing cafe. Due North of Truro, Thurso is the last stop on Great Britain and as far as he can go in Our Islands without getting wet.
He speaks of how the surfing at Thurso East compares to little else in the world, and his hopes this venue remains a focal point during major surfing events.
St. Ives has a beach culture, he says, unlike Thurso. Not sunbathing necessarily but living in that interstitial zone between land and sea. For him, to seer lack of promotion here would be like going to the Alps and see no-one skiing.
Involved with the RNLI for over 30 years, he plans to return to the Hyperborean North to promote the sea more.
