Adnan Turan developed a policy simulation card game as part of his doctoral studies at Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation. In advance of his May, 2025 graduation (PhD in educational policy and evaluation), Turan developed the project to help people better understand refugee community education issues, in particular how policies and decisions can positively, or negatively, impact refugees and the communities they are part of.
Turan developed the game concept with the support of MLFC's Vice Dean Jill Koyoma and Assistant Professor Shyla Gonzalez-Dogan.
The project also benefitted from Turan's involvement with MLFC's Learning Futures Collaborative initiative. LFCs convene networks of ASU scholars, educators and community members to address education’s greatest challenges through interdisciplinary research and collaborative approaches. Turan's work aligned with the LFC called Learning and Educating Across Refugee/(Im)migrant Networks.
