Thailand Tribe Girl Offers Me to Try Her Long Neck

Описание: Welcome back to my epic journey on the Mae Hong Son loop in Northern Thailand! Today's episode takes us on a mind-blowing ride towards the town of Mae Hong Son, on my trusty Honda Click – the ultimate road trip companion!

After three hours on the road, I arrive at today’s destination, the mystical mountain haven known as Huay Pu Keng – the Long Neck Karen Village Tribe (Kayan). To get to this village, I embarked on a boat ride across a river, adding an extra layer of adventure to the mix.

Upon reaching the village, I was greeted by the most amazing Kayan locals. We chatted, laughed, and connected on a level that i wasn’t expecting. These Longneck Karen are part of the Karenni, a subgroup with roots dating back to 1985 when they sought refuge in Thailand due to political turbulence in their homeland, Myanmar.

As I walked through the village, it struck me how amazing these people were. Yet, a hint of contemplation crept in, wondering if these incredible people should be left in peace instead of becoming a spectacle. Some people choose not to visit the Long Neck villages, some believing the tribe isn’t authentic and is set up for tourism reasons. Some also say, the rings around their necks are wrong and not ethical. I was happy I played a part in supporting the locals – every entry fee goes towards the village's well-being. I even accepted the offer of trying the rings around my neck.

After a great afternoon with the Long Neck girls, I headed back down the mountain, a wave of emotions washed over me. This day will be one i’ll never forget and has been the best yet of my Mae Hong Son adventures.
