Donated blood is a lifeline for many people needing long-term treatments, not just in emergencies. Your blood's main components: red cells, plasma and platelets are vital for many different uses.
But the idea of giving blood is scary for many people, including Londonist's Rachel Holdsworth. She went to give blood for the first time in the company of Londonist MD and regular donor, Lindsey Clarke to see if it's really all that bad. Spoiler alert: it isn't.
