What is the TRUTH regarding JIZYA? IT IS NOT A NON-MUSLIM TAX, rather a service fee.
Jizya is a subject that many people misunderstand. What does this really entail? First-off, it is not a tax. Secondly, under Islamic Law (Sharia), Jizyah is a service fee for those residents of a muslim country run by Islamic law. Muslims pay for the system and services they use through Zakah (obligatory Alms-giving/charity) and charity. Non-muslims who reside their use the roads, schools, hospitals, etc. but don't pay through Muslim acts of worship. So they are only charged a service fee if they actually use the services. Likewise, the Islamic system of governance protects ALL its citizens and this is where it also goes towards as well. Non-Muslims dont have to serve in the army like Muslims are require to in a time of need.
