Gaurav Gogoi’s Explosive Speech In Lok Sabha During Motion Against Om Birla | Parliament Session

Описание: Parliament Session: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi delivered a fiery speech in the Lok Sabha during the debate on the resolution seeking the removal of Speaker Om Birla, accusing the government of suppressing the Opposition’s voice in Parliament. Gogoi alleged that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was repeatedly denied the opportunity to speak on key national issues, including the India–U.S. interim trade agreement, controversies surrounding a book linked to former Army chief M. M. Naravane, and the Epstein files.

During his speech, Gogoi made a sharp remark saying that “even the microphone is being weaponised in this House,” claiming that while treasury bench members were allowed to speak freely, Opposition MPs — especially Rahul Gandhi — were not given the microphone. He also criticised the government for not appointing a Deputy Speaker, saying that despite the Opposition INDIA bloc having nearly 200 MPs in the Lok Sabha, the House was being run without proper institutional balance. Gogoi further argued that the current arrangement — where a member from the Speaker’s panel presides during the debate on the motion — was a “violation of the Constitution.” He pointed out that in previous instances when resolutions were moved against a Lok Sabha Speaker, a Deputy Speaker had presided over the proceedings. Responding to some of Gogoi’s remarks, the presiding officer Jagadambika Pal said certain references could not be used in the House, especially if the material cited had not yet been published. The House was later adjourned for lunch and scheduled to reconvene at 2 p.m., with Gogoi set to continue his speech when proceedings resume.
