The context behind my encounter with Ruben Israel, a harsh hater of Islam.
When I encountered this Islam hater who was abusing Muslims at the entrance of the ICNA national convention, I kept on wondering ‘how would the Prophet behave with such individuals? Would he abuse them and become angry and yell or would he, with a smile, approach this person and show him the fallacy of his argument and gently, with kindness, lead him towards Islam.?
Would the Prophet try to yell back to win a debate or would he, with a smile win this person’s heart?

These guys had such filthy signs and abusing so much over the speakers that it was nauseating. Leaving them alone to bully our sisters and kids was not an option for me, so I decided with ‘Bismillah’ to confront this hate group.

The above thoughts were rushing through my mind as I encountered Ruben Israel on Friday, April 19, 2019, at Washington DC, when he, along with 5 of his colleagues, were harassing Muslims at the main door of the convention.

I believe I have conveyed the message of Islam to this brother and he cannot deny that on the day of judgment. We should keep on praying to Allah to open this person’s heart to Islam.

Regarding security, yes, my family was worried about it. However, there were many cops a few steps from me and my personal bodyguard I hired since Sept 2001, with me....my wife :)

And, coming to the biggest investments I made in my life, besides the Islamic studies and all…..it is TOASTMASTERS!
