"Today we, the Carabinieri handed over Kabul's Central Training Centre to the Afghan national police. They did an excellent job as far as the training and the administration are concerned. We trained them as if they were Carabinieri, and they are now ready to deal with the tough reality of security to achieve the triumph of legality in the country."

STORYLINE
The Italian Carabinieri Training Team handed over responsibility for Kabul's Police Central Training Centre to Afghan authorities on Saturday.
The training centre, established in 2003, is designed to improve skills and knowledge of the Afghan police in order to face and overcome the security challenges in their country.
The Carabinieri, a paramilitary police force, had been responsible for the training of newly recruited Afghan policemen, who now will be trained by Afghans.
The handover comes as Afghan President Hamid Karzai announced the fifth and final tranche of security responsibility transition from international forces to Afghan Security forces earlier this week.
Afghans forces will take the full responsibility of security all over Afghanistan by the end of 2014.
