Israel Defense Forces are preparing for combat with Iran due to the increased risk of attack. Three new fifth-generation F-35I "Adir" multirole fighter jets arrived at the IDF's Nevatim Air Base recently. They will join the ranks of the 116th Squadron (Lions of the South) and the 140th Squadron (Golden Eagle). The IDF Spokesperson's Office reported this.

The IDF emphasized that the arrival of the new aircraft is another step in strengthening the Adir fleet and expanding the Air Force's operational capabilities. Israel views its strategic partnership with the United States as a key factor in maintaining stability in the Middle East.

Israel believes that the possibility of an American attack on Iran remains relevant, despite the pending decision by US President Donald Trump.

The issue is being coordinated between Jerusalem and Washington, and until a decision is made, the US is strengthening its defensive and offensive forces by deploying transport aircraft and an aircraft carrier to the region. The F-35 is considered one of the most technologically advanced combat aircraft. At the same time, according to media reports, IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir is organizing Air Force exercises simulating Israel's possible response to a potential attack from Iran.

Earlier, media reported that IDF Spokesperson Efi Defrin said that Israeli troops' combat readiness has been increased in all areas amid growing regional tensions and discussions of a possible direct conflict with Iran. Iran has declared its readiness for a harsh response in the event of a military strike on the country. According to Arab sources, Iran's leadership warns that a potential attack would not be limited to targeted actions and would inevitably escalate into a full-scale conflict.

The Chairman of the Shura Council emphasized that if Iran is involved in military action, there can be no talk of a “local scenario.”

He said any strike would trigger a long and all-encompassing war in which "the enemy would face a blow without precedent."

At the same time, as Tehran made clear, the conflict will affect not only the immediate participants – neutrality in such a situation will be impossible.

Meanwhile, according to journalists, Trump himself repeatedly returned to the idea of using force over the past week, viewing it as a response to the repression of protesters. The turning point was an informal diplomatic channel between Washington and Tehran. According to the publication, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff discussed possible steps to reduce tensions over the past weekend.

Ultimately, on January 14, the US president decided to pause and give diplomacy a chance. However, Axios emphasizes, the decision to abandon the strike does not mean the issue is finally resolved: the White House has made it clear that the option of using force remains on the table.
