Quick comparison of 2 Austrian microphones made 40 years apart, apparently by some of the same people, the modern Austrian Audio OC18 and an 80's AKG C414 B ULS.
As far as I know the 414 has a nylon capsule, the OC18's is ceramic. The 414 circuit has a transformer, the OC18 does not.
The OC18 is fixed cardioid only, the 414 is set to cardioid also. No filters or pads engaged on either microphone.
Both mics going into a Chandler Limited EMI TG2 preamp. The OC18 required 5db extra gain from the preamp for level matching, but otherwise set the same.
Very light compression with a Purple Audio MC77 and a limiter for YouTube, otherwise no processing. Mics in a mono overhead position, around head height.
