Modes in a flash! What is this Multi Mode?

There are actually three modes in most of the latest models of flashes or speedlights.

In the TTL mode, which is Through The Lens … the flash calculates the output intensity automatically by evaluating the light coming through the lens.

In the manual mode – you are in control of the power of the flash where usually 1/128 is the least intensity and 1/1 is the full power

And the third mode, which many people don’t talk about is the multi mode – multi mode is when the flash fires multiple times within a single exposure creating a stroboscopic effect.
