Описание: FEMA video explaining how you may be eligible for Other Needs Assistance, and what type of assistance could be provided.

[Transcript:]

After a disaster, you may find yourself with disaster-related expenses not covered by insurance or another source (like another agency or charitable organization).

You may have heard that FEMA helps with home and property damage, and temporary housing assistance. FEMA also provides financial assistance for disaster-related necessary expenses and serious needs associated with personal property, medical, dental, funeral, and other expenses.

If you or anyone in your household has medical or dental expenses caused by the disaster, FEMA will ask you to provide documentation indicating the expense was caused by the disaster and is medically required. Some examples may include damaged or lost eyeglasses or dentures, assistive technology devices, service animals, access ramps, or prescriptions.

If you have a medical condition and depend on life-sustaining equipment that requires electricity, and you had to buy or rent a generator after the disaster until your electric service was restored, FEMA may reimburse you for the cost of the generator.

FEMA also provides assistance with funeral expenses, if the death is attributed to the disaster.

In some cases, your State, Territory, or Tribal Government may request that FEMA provide reimbursement for disaster-related miscellaneous expenses, such as dehumidifiers, chainsaws, or weather radios if you bought them as a result of the disaster.

If you have any questions about any disaster-related expenses, you should check with the local Disaster Recovery Center or call the Disaster Assistance Helpline at 800.621.3362. TTY users can call 800.462.7585.

We are committed to making sure that all survivors, including those with disabilities or access and functional needs, get the right support they need to recover from disasters.
