Описание: Many times when you do a blood count test ordered by a physician or when you admit in the hospital you see a number called hct mentioned in that hct is a smaller form or abbreviation of hematocrit hematocrit is basically in simple terms put as how thick or how thin your blood is so if you are dehydrated your blood will show high hematocrit if you have lot of uh blood in your body what's sometimes diagnosed as a disease called polycythemia your hematocrit or hct will be high if you have anemia your hct or hematocrit will be low so low hemoglobin reduces hct and high hemoglobin increases hct but many cases hct or hematocrit is also indicative of a state of hydration or dehydration hct normally is 38 to 46 for females and 40 to 54 for most males however some males may have or people may have a high hematocrit even with a normal condition like people staying in high altitudes uh sometimes uh races which stay in the himalayas foothills of the himalayas who are exposed to low oxygen they have high hemoglobin and they have a high hematocrit with a completely normal physiology so hematocrit is a marker of your blood levels and sometimes a marker of dehydration.
