Recently, Refinement Team was honored to be invited to the 4th edition of the Sebiro Sanpo, a captivating menswear event held in the historic district of Asakusa, Tokyo, on November 2nd, 2024.
"Sebiro Sanpo" or "Suit Walk" is a fascinating event that highlights the cultural nuances of Japanese language and fashion. While the direct English loanword "suit" (suutsu) is widely used, the more traditional Japanese term "sebiro" (背広) offers a deeper connection to the country's sartorial history.
Hundreds of participants, dressed in their suits, converged on the streets of Asakusa. The diverse array of Japanese styles, from classic to avant-garde, showcased the versatility and enduring appeal of this iconic garment.
