In today’s polarized political climate, the role of the superintendent is more complex—and more critical—than ever before. The Civic Leadership in the Superintendency: Leading During Turbulent Times program equips district leaders with the advanced communication strategies, political skills, and resilience needed to navigate these challenges while staying focused on student success.
In this video, David Lussier, Superintendent of Wellesley Public Schools (MA), reflects on why he chose to join the program. For him, the opportunity to bring pressing challenges into a collaborative thought space—with colleagues from across the country and expert Harvard faculty—was invaluable. He highlights the network of peers and the shared learning as the most powerful aspects of the experience.
This blended institute includes three intensive days on campus, followed by six months of online sessions that extend the learning and foster ongoing communities of practice. Participants leave better prepared to lead with diplomacy, build coalitions, and drive positive change for students, especially those furthest from opportunity.
