In April, India's goods exports saw the biggest fall in three years due to weaker global demand and falling commodity prices. According to trade ministry figures, exports fell nearly 13% in April to $34.66 billion from $39.70 billion the previous year. The most recent severe drop was in May 2020, when goods exports fell 35.52%. Imports of goods declined 14% to $49.90 billion for the month, from $58.06 billion the previous year. As a result, the trade imbalance shrank to $15.24 billion from $18.36 billion in April of the previous year.
