Combat vehicles and weapons targeted in Saudi-led strike on Yemeni port

Описание: Saudi-led coalition forces conducted an early Tuesday morning strike on Al-Mukalla port in eastern Yemen, targeting two ships the coalition says were delivering weapons and combat vehicles from the UAE to separatist Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces. The attack caused significant damage to military hardware and nearby buildings, with the coalition stating the operation was carried out in accordance with international humanitarian law and resulted in no collateral damage.

The strike marks a sharp escalation in tensions between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, former allies in Yemen. Riyadh has demanded the STC peacefully withdraw from recently seized provinces, with Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman urging the group to “let reason prevail”. The US has called for restraint.

The conflict has exposed deep fractures within the anti-Houthi alliance; while the Saudi-backed government and UAE-supported STC once fought together against the Iran-aligned Houthis, their competing ambitions in southern Yemen have now led to direct confrontation, threatening further instability in the region.
