Welcome to the first update of my fighting game project in Unreal Engine 5! Today, I turned static 3D meshes into a fully playable Samurai character with combat mechanics.
🛠️ What I Accomplished Today:
Skeleton Retargeting: Successfully assigned the Villain's skeleton to the Hero mesh to share animations.
Locomotion System: Created a 2D Blend Space to handle Idle, Walking, Running, and Strafing smoothly.
Animation Blueprint: built the "Brain" of the character (ABP_Samurai) to calculate Speed and Direction variables.
Combat Movement: Switched from standard "Adventure Movement" to "Combat Strafe" (Always facing the enemy).
Sprint Logic: Implemented a Shift-Key system to toggle between Walking (170 Speed) and Running (600 Speed).
Attack System: Set up Animation Montages and Input logic to trigger sword attacks with mouse clicks.
