Those are Van Gogh's own words. He wrote that to his brother Theo from Arles in the spring of 1888. He had just left two years of grey Paris behind and the orchards were blooming everywhere around him.
He started painting them almost in a panic because he knew the blossoms wouldn't last.
This is one of those paintings. You can feel how fast he was working. The guy who spent months staring at factory chimneys and city fog suddenly has pink blossoms and open sky in front of him and he just goes for it.
Sometimes a place saves you before you even realize you needed saving.
He was in rush. You can take your time.
