The Kingman Brothers pull the pin

Описание: We are in Nyack on the CSX River Line Subdivision, where we see CSX Train L040, the local freight out of Kingston, as it comes down to the crossing at Bradley Parkway to run around its train and shove south to Aluf in Blauvelt. L040 consists of SD40-2 8400 and 10 loaded covered hoppers. Upon arrival at Aluf, they will swap cars for 10 empties to bring back to Kingston. Today is the final run for the Engineer and Conductor on L040; the Kingman Brothers both retired after finishing up today, bringing to a close their careers of 30 years and 27 years respectively. As a nice send-off, the local trainmaster had a set of decals made up from the decal shop in Huntington, WV to be applied to the 8400, to temporarily name it the "Spirit of Kingman." I think that was a great touch, as both gentlemen were a fixture on L040 and C711 before that for a number of years. After making the last few moves at Aluf, we pull back a bit to see the railfan community that came out to wish the Kingman Brothers well. From there, L040 got the signal from NI, and they were on their way north for the last time. We see the train once more as it blows for the park maintainers crossing at Iona Island at Automatic 41. After that, we take a look at some photos I took of the Kingman Brothers as they worked L040 (and C711) over the past years. I started running into them in 2009, over 16 years ago. Attached is the first video I took of them, when they were operating with an old B30-7. Enjoy the view of the last run for the boys. I hope this was a fitting tribute to them.
