We talk a lot about heat transfer reduction and for good reason. In order to best ensure plenty of REM sleep to help improve brain functioning, the body temperature needs to slightly drop. However, it can also be beneficial to be slightly warmer during the early and late stages of sleep. There are many factors that are unique to the individual to prescribe just the right temperature formula throughout the night.

I recently got my hands on the Eight Pod mattress, and it incorporates cutting-edge technology that allows you to fluctuate the temperature of your sleep surface between 55 and 115 degrees Fahrenheit. It even offers data points to help you optimize your sleep fitness and make the most out of every minute spent in bed.

Quick Look at How It Works
In a nutshell, the Hub works through the use of water that circulates through the tubing of the Active Grid cover that zips on the mattress. We’ll show you how to get it all setup in this video. It all connects to the app you can download on your Apple or Android device. When you set it up, it will ask you a variety of questions in order to arrive at the right temperature setup for you including:

How you feel when you go to bed at night
How you feel in the middle of the night
How you feel when you wake up
What time you usually go to bed on weekdays and weeknights
What kind of blanket you use
Once you answer all the questions, you’ll be given a personalized recommendation for temperature settings at the onset of sleep, during the middle, and toward the end. Of course, you can always go in and make changes, but the prescribed thermoregulation plan I was given worked very well at helping me balance my light, deep, and REM sleep well optimal restoration.
Motion Transfer & Edge Support: An Inverse Relationship

The Eight Pod is an all-foam mattress. These products typically do a great job reducing motion transfer, especially those containing memory foam like this one. However, as is often the case with these products, edge support is compromised. In our testing, the Eight Pod did, indeed, do very well at keeping motion isolated to the area in which energy is exerted. During this video, you can see for yourself how well it was able to keep me supported when I sat on various areas of the edge as well as lied on the edge.
