Boozman, Cotton, and Hill Ditch Rural Farmer for Ritzy Fundraiser

Описание: @FarmherHallie is a rural multi-generational Arkansas farmer whose family farm was pushed over the edge by Republican policies and inaction. But when this Arkansas voter tried to tell her congressional representatives about it at a recent town hall, they didn't even bother to show up.

There were three empty chairs at the event organized by a coalition of concerned Arkansans: one empty seat each for Sen. John Boozman, Sen. Tom Cotton, and Rep. French Hill, all no-shows.

Co-host and moderator Dr. Chris Jones was one of many concerned Arkansans who invited the Congressional delegation to have an honest conversation to their constituents. Unfortunately, Boozman, Cotton, and Hill chose to rub elbows with the elites at a ritzy fundraiser down the street.

"Yesterday I watched strangers pull away my tillage equipment. They drove my tractors away, my combines," Hallie said. "As I stand here, people are picking up the very last pieces of six generations of farming. And the people that we elected to protect us are eating in a ballroom at $7,000 a plate.”

Hallie lost her family farm because she can’t make a profit when the Farm Bill hasn’t updated crop-related benchmarks since 2012. The truth is, her representatives are supposed to do something about that. It's literally their job. Especially since agriculture is the top industry in Arkansas. Sen. Boozman even chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture that negotiates the Farm Bill. But it’s long overdue for an update, and there isn’t even a new bill on the horizon.

And farmers like Hallie have run out of time.

She knows she can’t depend on Arkansas Republicans to stand up for her. “I have no use for politicians that play dress up in cowboy boots and say they care about farmers, and then do nothing to help in our hour of need,” she said.

In the words of the audience: “VOTE THEM OUT!”
