How does Sony’s FX Line really perform in low light at base ISO?
In this video, I compare the Sony FX30, FX2, and FX3 side by side in a controlled low-light environment to see how each sensor handles noise, exposure, and overall image quality at their native/base ISO settings.
All cameras were tested under the same conditions using a 30W SmallRig COB light with focused output and barn doors to limit spill. The goal is a real-world, repeatable comparison — not a stylized or graded showcase.
Test Setup:
Controlled low-light environment
30W SmallRig COB light (focused, spill controlled)
Picture Profile: S-Log3 / S-Gamut3.Cine
Basic S-Log3 to Rec.709 conversion LUT applied
No creative color grading
No noise reduction or sharpening
Same exposure and framing where possible
This comparison is meant for filmmakers and cinematographers who want a practical understanding of how these cameras perform in low-light scenarios, especially when choosing the right FX camera for their workflow.
