Freshman quarterback Deuce Knight starred in his first start, accounting for six total touchdowns as Auburn rolled past Mercer 62–17 at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Knight opened the game with a 75-yard rushing touchdown and finished with four rushing scores (75, 51, 9, 20 yards) and two passing touchdowns, completing 15-of-20 for 239 yards and rushing nine times for 162 yards, totaling 401 yards of offense.

After Mercer briefly took a 14–7 lead, Auburn’s defense settled in, allowing just three points after the first quarter. Knight scored three rushing touchdowns in the first half, connected with Cam Coleman for a TD before halftime, and later threw a 91-yard touchdown to Malcolm Simmons, Auburn’s longest play of the season. Alex McPherson added field goals of 47 and 49 yards, and Jackson Arnold capped the scoring with a 56-yard rushing touchdown.

Defensively, Robert Woodyard led with eight tackles, while Chris Murray recorded two sacks and a strip sack, helping Auburn force three turnovers. The win improves Auburn to 5–6 (1–6 SEC) ahead of next week’s Iron Bowl against No. 10 Alabama.
