Mobility Training at Chakshumathi and Indic AI

Описание: Chakshumathi’s Road to Ivy program incumbent Miss Angelin Lipika EJ is a sophomore at the University of the Ozarks, Clarksville, Arkansas elected for the Bs Computer science. First semester she had a sighted escort to move around in the university for studies. On the semester break, she quickly returned India to undergo mobility training at her alma matter Chakshumathi.

Lipika was one of the many students Chakshumathi provided training and support. She never studied in a blind school or always in the comfort zone of home and the mainstream school she studied. Like many other visually challenged students in India, she also did not undergo mobility training and she being a student from Kanyakumari district of Tamilnadu was always supported by Chakshumathi on an online mode for her studies and preparation for her US admission along with Road to IVY associate Indic AI.

This time, she visited Thiruvananthapuram for her mobility training at Chakshumathi. This video is shoot during her training in August 2025.
Mobility training is vital for the visually challenged, enabling them to move safely, confidently, and independently in different environments. It teaches essential skills such as using a white cane, navigating obstacles, identifying landmarks, and interpreting sounds for orientation. Beyond physical movement, mobility training fosters self-reliance, dignity, and social participation, reducing dependence on others. It also improves access to education, employment, and community life, empowering individuals to contribute fully to society. With proper mobility training, a visually challenged person gains not just the ability to travel, but the freedom to explore, connect, and live with greater confidence and autonomy.

She is not only trained to use white cane navigation, but also trained in using Be My Eyes an online guide service for the Visually challenged worldwide and useful apps to explore surroundings, shopping and exhibitions.
