Описание: We pray for the blessings of Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi on this auspicious day of Navarathri and are pleased to present the sixth shloka of Ashtalakshmi Stotram on Sri Vijaya Lakshmi. Devi Vijayalakshmi is one of the eight manifestations of Goddess Mahalakshmi, worshipped for success, victory and luck, in both material and spiritual endeavours.

The Symbolism of Devi Vijayalakshmi

Devi Vijayalakshmi is one of the eight manifestations of Goddess Mahalakshmi, worshipped for success, victory and luck, in both material and spiritual endeavours. She is depicted with eight arms, perhaps symbolising the ability to handle multiple tasks and challenges simultaneously. Her red garment symbolises vitality, strength, and auspiciousness, while Her lotus seat represents purity, spirituality and lack of attachment to material aspects, as lotus is to water. She carries a shankha or conch, symbolising purity, as well as sound of victory; and Chakra or Discus, that declares Her power to protect and destroy evil. The lotus flower held in one hand, symbolises beauty, spiritual purity, and growth. The sword and shield, carried by Her, represent her ability to defend against enemies and conquer obstacles. The pasha or noose in another arm denotes her ability to control and conquer negative influences or obstacles. Through Her ‘abhaya mudra’, She conveys protection and divine assurance for her devotees; and the ‘varada mudra’ of yet another arm is a gesture of bestowing blessings and boons, symbolising her benevolent and generous nature.
