EP 3 Srinagar to Gurez Valley- 140 km Travel to unexplored Kashmir | Razdan Pass | Offbeat Kashmir

Описание: Gurez Valley can be accessed by road from Srinagar and the road condition is good. This journey can take about 5 to 6 hours, with minimal breaks. We visited Gurez valley in the month of June, which is the peak season time.

Gurez valley is cut off from rest of the kashmir during winter time ie November to March.

Below are the activities / key destinations we visited enroute on way to Gurez valley.

Sumbal - It's a town and a notified area committee in the Bandipora district Kashmir. It is about 30 km away from Srinagar & 120 km away from Gurez.

Sunset Point Wular Lake - Wular lake is said to be Asia's largest freshwater lake. It is about 45 km away from Srinagar. The Jhelum river is the prime source of water for this lake.

Bandipora - It is also known as Gateway to Central Asia. It is about 65 km away from Srinagar, Earlier Bandipora and Baramulla were one district now these are two different districts.

Gurez valley falls in Bandipora district.

Tragbal - It is a breakpoint for tourists to enjoy some light snacks under the sheltering fires with soft mountain breeze, there are about 8 to 10 eateries at this place.

Tragbal has some trekking opportunities as well, you may check that out with some locals.

Razdan pass is about 10 km away from Tragbal.

Peer Baba's Shrine - It is in North Kashmir's Bandipora district 4 km away from Razdan Pass & is the inimitable symbol of shared faith and serves as a way to brotherhood.

Saint Peer Baba is believed to have established himself in a cave here in 1933, when he was 35 years old. The religion of Peer Baba was unknown. Therefore, people from all religions visit the shrine and pray for the fulfillment of their desires.

Razdan Pass - It is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 11,672 ft above sea level in the Himalayas of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The pass was named after a local warrior who fought bravely against the invaders and defended the region from foreign invasions.

The pass played a crucial role in the Silk Route trade between India and China, and it continues to be an important trade route for the region. Gurez Valley is about 35 km away from here.

If you wish to know whether Gurez valley is open or not, ie you want to know the status of roads, then you can approach TRC in Srinagar.

It is strongly advised that before you visit Gurez , do check before hand on roads being open for tourism.

Kishan Ganga River - It is a major tributary of the west-flowing Jhelum River. It is also known as Neelum River.
Tourists used to camp here too.

Kaka Palace - We ended our day at Dawar and booked our room in this hotel. Dawar is the largest town of Gurez valley.

There has been a lot of development in Dawar since last 3 -4 years ever since Gurez valley has been opened for tourism.

Tariff at kaka palace 4500 plus tax for double occupancy including breakfast and dinner. If you are looking at homestay/guest house accommodation in Gurez it is advised to book in advance as this place has limited stay options.

Electricity - This place has a challenge on electricity, some homestays like kaka palace have their own Generators but they are not allowed to run them after 11 pm., plus they have solar setup but not homestays have that. You may want to check this out before you book./

Gurez To and fro from Srinagar - 2 night and 3 days programme on innova or crysta kind of vehicle costs Rs 24k.. You may check with Shaukat bhai for other vehicles as he is more handson to this.
