Yamaha XMAX 250 – Ride to Ng Tada

Описание: This is Ruby first out of town ride on her 2020 Yamaha XMAX 250 (colour: matte grey) on a beautiful Saturday.

We started from Home and a quick stop at Shell station near Farley to fuel up and also check our tire pressure especially for Versys 650 as it has been parking at home for quite some time.

The first section of this ride is from Shell station to Durin Bridge (approx. 26km) on Jln Kong Yit Khim. Video for this section is recorded using SJCAM SJ5000x Elite mounted using chest mount. I love riding along this section as it has less traffic and the road is shaded by trees along the road. It provides a fresh and cool feeling. However, this road section frequently flooded and not passable during King Tide.

The second section is from Durin bridge to the old SMK Sedaya located opposite Kanowit Town (approx. 29km). In this section, I’ve relocated my SJCAM on top of my helmet for a better view.

In 1957, the SMK DHARY (SEDAYA) school was known as ‘Kanowit Rural Improvement School.’ At that time, this school was used as a place to provide training in agriculture to Bumiputera youths so that they could become successful farmers. Later due to the increasing need and demand for a more complete formal education, an academic curriculum has been incorporated into the school curriculum.

On 22 June 1971, the Chief Minister of Sarawak, Dato Haji Abdul Rahman Ya’kub and his entourage visited the school. In conjunction with this visit, he officially announced the change of name of this school to Sekolah Menengah Dato Haji Abdul Rahman Ya’kub, Kanowit. On 5th May 1972, the Chief Minister of Sarawak, once again visited the school in conjunction with the opening of the Annual School Games. In his speech, he suggested that ‘SEDAYA’ could be used as an acronym for Sekolah Menengah Dato Haji Abdul Rahman Yakub. He also suggested that the students of this school always strive to 'do their best or SEDAYA UPAYA' to achieve excellence in academics and other activities that can improve school performance. From that date, this school is better known in Sarawak as the 'SEDAYA' school.

The third section is to the Ng Tada Resettlement area (approx. 25km from SMK Sedaya Lama). Ng Nada is one of few resettlement areas under the Rajang Area Security Command (RASCOM). These settlements were established in April 1972, when RASCOM resettled the Ibans of Ng. Tada, Ng Ngungun and Ng. Jagau under the code name of "Operation Bebatak" (meaning to pull together". This regrouping was done voluntarily, as fear spread across the land due to threat and intimidation by communist terrorists.
