The MICRO LEADER: Taking EURO NYMPHING to another level

Описание: After you have a sold foundation in EURO NYMPHING, it's all the changes on the margin that takes your game to another level. Using the Micro Leader is one of those changes.

The original Euro formulas were developed to use with fly rods that were made to fish with traditional fly line. We discovered that if you took fly line out of the equation, it would reduce sag and allow you to have a better connection to your bugs. Using 20# Maxima and the like (tapered down) had enough mass to propel lightly weighted flies. This has been the "standard" for a very long time. But just like anything else...equipment. materials, techniques, etc...evolve over time. As euro rods evolved, they no longer needed the mass of 20# test to propel your flies...you just needed the weight of the flies. This allowed us to thin our leaders out, use lighter bugs, fish farther away, and increase our strike detection ten fold.

In this video, I take you along with me on Penns Creek and show you the pros, cons, and common misconceptions of the micro leader. You will see that the pros far outweigh the cons. This leader will help you move from feeling your strikes to seeing them. THIS is one of the key "ah ha" moments in euro nymphing. I also discuss my personal formula.

Personal formula:

Airflo braided Euro Nymphing line (strip the coating at the end and whip finish a in small loop to tie on leader)

18-24ft of .18mm (4x) or .16mm (5x) Pezon & Michel Color Line (fl. yellow or green) to 5ft of .18mm (4x) or .16mm (5x) Pezon & Michel Color Line bi-color (pink/white) to a Cortland 1mm tippet ring. 3-5ft of 7x-6x fluorocarbon.

***Or you can go straight 23-30ft of .18mm or .16mm Bi-color (What I currently use). You can also use a single color with a Sakura marker to the tippet ring.

Alternatives:
Sempe, Adams, Baetis Indicator Mono

Thin diameter sighters (5-4x) are also available by: Cortland Tri-Color, RIO, Hanak. They are available in different colors that may stand out for you.
