When it comes to relationships, there seem to always be guesswork and deciphering codes as to what a person really means when they say something.

Here are a few instances where you don't have to decipher or guess, because people mean exactly what they say.

Instance number 1:
If someone tells you that they love you but they’re not sure if they want to be in a relationship with you. they mean exactly that. they are not sure - don’t spevu;ate if there are other reasons. It hurts like hell, but If you start to wonder if there’s something wrong with you, don’t go down that road. Just take it at face value. Don’t start questioning if you’ve done something wrong or if you’re deserving of love.

Instance number 2:
If someone tells you that sometimes, they’re not sure if they love you. It’s the worst thing in the world to hear, and it’s cold and harsh and it hurts, but remember that, it is because THEY are not sure. It’s not that you’re unworthy of love, or that you’re difficult to love. And don’t think “If I can be better, prettier, smarter, this person will love me.” You can be perfect and this person can still have the same problem. It has nothing to do with YOU and everything to do with that person.

Instance number 3: If someone tells you that they miss you, that they don’t want to lose you, that they want to spend time together but that they just can’t commit to a relationship with you for now. They’re being very honest - they’re asking your permission to allow them in your life even though they have nothing to offer in return.

It’s not is not them saying, “Let me still be in your life and I might want to commit to a relationship in the future.” If you really want to decipher it, it’s just another version of them telling you ‘I want my cake and eat it too, but sometimes I might not want to eat it, but I want the option of eating it whenever I feel like it.”

If we do decide to be with someone who’s anything like in the three instances mentioned, it’s not wrong and it’s not stupid, but what we DO need to acknowledge is this - there are consequences to being in a relationship with someone who’s not equally committed.

There are consequences to being in a relationship that’s toxic to your mental and emotional well-being, and only YOU can decide the relationship is worth your sanity and self-worth. Remember, the most important thing is to be happy, always.
