RUGER 1022 Versus the WINCHESTER WILDCAT

The Ruger 10/22 has been around since 1964, and it is tried and true. The Winchester Wildcat is a contender to the Ruger 10/22, introduced in 2019 with built-in features and lower cost.

I want to edit to note that I have been asked, "Why the Thunderbolt ammo?" I want to answer that for you. I wanted to demonstrate shooting them with low-cost ammo to show reliability. I am happy to say that neither one had any reliability problems with Thunderbolt. The groups were not impressive, but they were not bad either for plinking.

I talk about some of the features of both, and then I see how well they do with common, affordable plinking ammo. 10-round groups with Remington Thunderbolt ammo (please note the additional holes in that box are from a previous shoot with different guns.)

Both rifles are suitable for Rimfire Challenge Competitions where dime-size groups are unimportant. Both are great for small game hunting. Although the groups would be much better with match-grade ammo off a bench with a better shooter than myself. Neither one would be considered a precision rifle right out of the box.

The Ruger 10/22 can be upgraded to a precision rifle with aftermarket chassis by companies like KRG and after-market match barrels like those from Shaw barrels, and there are many after-market triggers for the Ruger as well, whereas, at the time of the making of this video, there are no such options for the Winchester Wildcat.
