Afghanistan’s Taliban government has accused Pakistan of targeting a civilian hospital, and has labeled the act a crime against humanity. Pakistan has denied that it intentionally targeted civilians, and claims that its military targeted terrorists and ammunition dumps on the ground. Pakistan has also accused Afghanistan of sheltering terrorists who conduct attacks in Pakistan’s territory.

The attack on the hospital comes as a result of clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan along the border of their two countries; this was the third consecutive week of these clashes. The United Nations has urged both sides to restrain themselves. Meanwhile, India has condemned the airstrike as a violation of Afghanistan’s territorial integrity. Afghan cricket stars Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi have called for an international investigation into this airstrike.
