Big rule for air passengers | Govt issues new airline rules

Описание: In a major move aimed at improving passenger convenience, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has directed airlines to allocate at least 60% of seats free of charge on every flight. The new guidelines, issued through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, are designed to ensure fair access and enhance the overall travel experience for passengers across India.

According to the directive, passengers travelling under the same PNR should be seated together, preferably in adjacent seats. Airlines have also been asked to introduce transparent and passenger-friendly policies for carrying items such as sports equipment, musical instruments and pets, while adhering to safety regulations.

The ministry further stressed strict compliance with passenger rights in cases of flight delays, cancellations and denied boarding. Airlines must clearly display these rights and communicate them in regional languages to ensure awareness among travelers.

Officials noted that India is now the third-largest domestic aviation market globally, handling over five lakh passengers daily. Initiatives like UDAN, UDAN Yatri Cafes, Flybrary and free Wi-Fi at airports aim to make air travel more accessible and passenger-friendly.
