This LEGO short is a battle of the biomes! We're comparing the original, iconic OG Steve against the brand new 2024 Desert Steve. These two LEGO Minecraft minifigures show just how much the theme has evolved over the last decade.
The OG Steve represents the classic "spawn point" experience—fresh into the world with basic gear. Desert Steve represents the specialized explorer, adapting his gear to survive the heat, ride Camels, and explore desert temples. It's the Generalist vs. the Specialist.
Let's look at the LEGO minifigures. The OG Steve (min012) is the icon, featuring the standard blue shirt, purple/blue pants, and blocky head. The Desert Steve features a totally new skin design, with a tan and green outfit perfect for camouflage in sandy biomes, but keeps the classic Steve face.
The OG Steve (min012) debuted way back in 2014 in sets like 21115 "The First Night." The Desert Steve is a fresh release from the January 2024 set 21251 "Steve's Desert Expedition."
