Orange County is undergoing its largest transformation in decades. Six mega-projects totaling over $10 billion are simultaneously reshaping the region—from the coastline to suburban cores—ahead of the 2028 Olympics. This video breaks down what's being built, who's funding it, and why it matters to everyone in Southern California.
In this explainer, we tour six groundbreaking developments that will define OC's next chapter:
• OCVibe in Anaheim – A $4 billion, 92-acre entertainment district around Honda Center, fully privately funded by Ducks owner Henry Samueli. Features luxury housing, hotels, dining, parks, and a world-class concert hall opening 2026–2027.
• Dana Point Harbor – A $610 million waterfront revival adding 580 boat slips, two hotels, 120,000 sq ft of retail and restaurants, and the return of the Golden Bear nightclub. Phase one targets late 2026.
• Irvine Great Park – Over $1.1 billion building out nearly 1,000 acres with signature lakes, museums, botanical gardens, Veterans Memorial, and The Canopy dining hub. Surrounded by 10,000+ new homes.
• Bolsa Pacific in Westminster – A dying mall reborn as a 2,250-home urban village with retail, hotel, and 15 acres of parks. Part of a national trend of mall-to-neighborhood conversions.
• Related Bristol in Santa Ana – A $3 billion urban infill project on 42 acres: 3,750 residential units, 350,000 sq ft commercial space, hotels, senior housing, and 13 acres of open space.
• Magnolia Coast in Huntington Beach – Former oil tank farm becoming 200+ homes, 51 affordable units, and a 215-room resort just 2,000 feet from the Pacific. Construction starts 2026.
Three forces are driving this boom: years of housing undersupply, an influx of private capital and tech growth, and the hard deadline of the 2028 LA Olympics—with surfing and sailing events in OC. Projects that might have taken a decade are now on the fast track.
What it means: more walkable, urban environments replacing car-centric sprawl. New cultural destinations. Rising property values. And for the first time in decades, Orange County is building the kind of places that attract young professionals, families, and global visitors.
