Industrial Computed Tomography (CT) is transforming manufacturing by allowing engineers to see inside their parts with unprecedented clarity. However, unlocking the full potential of this data requires the right visualization tools for the right task.
By combining advanced 2D analysis software, like Lumafield’s Voyager, with the physical presence of a Voxon Photonics VX2 display, engineering teams can create a workflow that bridges the gap between deep analytical precision and intuitive human communication.
While 2D screens are perfect for analysis, they can be abstract when communicating complex 3D shapes to a group. This is where the Voxon volumetric display steps in as the "communication engine."
The display allows multiple users—engineers, managers, and clients—to stand around the data simultaneously. This facilitates natural conversation where participants can walk around the defect and point directly to features of interest without headsets blocking their view.
The future of inspection isn't about choosing between screens or volumetric holograms; it's about using them together.
In an ideal workflow, an engineer uses software such as Lumafield Voyager to detect a microscopic anomaly, segment the relevant data, and quantify the defect. That specific 3D segment is then pushed to the Voxon display for the team meeting. There, the group can physically gather around the "digital part" to discuss the manufacturing implications and agree on a fix, experiment with the segmentation in real-time, and explore the area of interest.
Together, they offer a complete view: the mathematical precision of the software and the physical reality of the volumetric display.
