What are the ABG Normal Values?
For you to better understand the key elements of
an ABG test, it is important for you to know the
definition of the values that are being measured.
-- pH - Refers to the acid-base balance of the
blood.
-- Partial Pressure of Oxygen (Pa02) - Refers to
the amount of oxygen that is in arterial blood.
-- Partial Pressure of Carbon Dioxide (PaC02) -
Refers to the amount of carbon dioxide that is in arterial blood.
-- Bicarbonate (HCO3-) - Refers to the total
amount of C02 that is transported in the blood.
-- Oxygen Saturation (Sp02) - Refers to the
amount of hemoglobin in the blood that is
saturated with oxygen.
ABG Normal Value Ranges:
-- pH:7.35-7.45
Partial Pressure of Oxygen (Pa02):75-1 00
mmHg
-- Partial Pressure of Carbon Dioxide (PaC02):
35-45 mmHg
-- Bicarbonate (HC03-): 22-26 mEq/L
-- Oxygen Saturation (Sp02): 94-100%
